Marner signing doesn’t matter to Avalanche in Mikko Rantanen talks

Mikko Rantanen

If the Toronto Maple Leafs want to wildly overpay for Mitch Marner, it doesn’t mean the Colorado Avalanche also will for Mikko Rantanen. How the Maple Leafs conduct their business is their business. It doesn’t mean that’s how the Colorado Avalanche have to conduct their business.

That point was made crystal clear to me today by the Avs. It wasn’t an on-the-record thing, but you can take it to the bank that people with some power on the Avs expressed that sentiment to me at training camp today and they don’t mind others knowing it.
