Gabe Landeskog wants his Avalanche teammates to put down the smartphones and get to know each other

At the beginning of last season, Colorado Avalanche captain Gabe Landeskog instituted a new rule at team dinners: Everybody has to put their cell phones in the middle of the table. First person that cracks to check their screens, whether for a call or email or text or to play a hand of solitaire – whatever – has to pick up the whole check.
