Is the dam about to break between Altitude and one of the Big Three cable companies?

WASHINGTON – Good news may very soon be on the horizon for beleaguered Avalanche, Nuggets, Rapids and any other fans of the Altitude Network’s TV programming.

A source tells Colorado Hockey Now that things are progressing again in carriage talks between Altitude and at least one of the three big cable companies – DirecTV, Comcast and DISH.

“Very positive,” the source told Colorado Hockey Now, when asked to describe the state of things with one of the Big 3. “Good, positive discussions. Trying to get creative.”

Which of the Big Three? I don’t know just yet, and I don’t want to speculate. I just don’t know which one it is, sorry. The goal, Colorado Hockey Now has learned, is to still get Altitude back on all Big Three cable companies. That goal might be easier to accomplish if one of the Big Three signs a deal with Altitude. Cable companies don’t like it when one has programming the other doesn’t. So far, none of the three have had to worry about what’s on the others, because Alitude’s carriage deal with all three expired at the same time.

Fans of the Avalanche have been most affected by the blackout of Altitude on the Big Three, which started in early September. Fans have had to get creative in trying to find ways to actually see the games, whether by illegal streaming or just some old-fashioned radio listening.

At Brooklyn’s, right next to the Pepsi Center, fans can watch today’s game between the Capitals and Avs. That’s because Kroenke Sports and Entertainment owns Brooklyn’s, so they can stream their own games.

More news as it develops…
