TAMPA – Cue the official victory song again. At this rate, the Bee Gees are going to get one hell of a royalty check.

The Colorado Avalanche’s official victory song, as you may know by now, is “Stayin’ Alive”, from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. The St. Louis Blues found championship kinship with the long-forgotten “Gloria”, by Laura Branigan. There is a long way to go before we all have that song on a permanent loop in our heads, but we’re eight games into the season and the Avs have cued up Brothers Gibb seven times already now, the latest being Saturday night in the visitors’ dressing room at Amalie Arena.

The Avs set a new team record in their 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. They are now 7-0-1 on the season, and that, folks, is the best start in team history.
