Mikko Rantanen hurt in second period of Avs-Blues game

This definitely does not look good, does it?

Mikko Rantanen was just skating back into the neutral zone in the second period tonight, when that happened in the picture above.

Rantanen was not hit by a St. Louis Blue, or anything nefarious. He had his ankle turn sideways while skating. He needed help to get down the tunnel to the dressing room.

I’ve learned the hard way over the years not to jump to any conclusions or make early diagnoses on potential injuries just from looking at the video. What you have to worry about, though, is some kind of knee tear. If it’s just a sprained ankle, that’s probably the best-case scenario.

Having covered the Avs for so long, I would imagine the most we’ll get tonight is: we’ll know more tomorrow when we get back to Denver.
