Nathan MacKinnon: “It sucks, but Mikko is a freak and he’ll be back sooner than later”

Back from Avalanche practice, where there were mostly long sighs of relief around the rink. That said, the team is going to be without Mikko Rantanen for a while, so of course that’s not a good thing.



Jared Bednar’s press conference was a bit weird. Another reporter asked first, “What’s the status of Mikko?” and Bednar said, “He’s week-to-week with a lower body. I should know more early next week, Tuesday-Wednesday-ish.”

Well, that was pretty vague and not all that promising sounding, right? A couple more questions went by before I decided to press a little harder on the situation. I basically said something like, well the fact that you won’t know more until next week, does that mean he needs more testing, etc?

Then, Bednar gave this much more positive-sounding answer:
