Inside the Avalanche Locker Room: “It felt kinda cheezy”

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – When you get older and you go back to a place you’ve been many times previously, you see ghosts, in a sense. I saw the latest incarnation of the Avalanche in the visitors’ room of Rogers Arena, formerly known as GM Place, tonight. I try not to live in the past, but tonight I was thinking about how many other versions of the Avs I’ve seen in that very room.

I talked to Antoine Bibeau tonight, but I remember talking to Patrick Roy as a player in almost the same spot he stood. I saw Pierre-Edouard Bellemare in a corner, but for some reason I thought of the time I talked with Peter Worrell once in that same corner. Where Nathan MacKinnon sat and talked after the game tonight, Darcy Tucker once sat and gave me good-natured grief for doubting the Avs after Matt Duchene put them into the playoffs that night, in 2010, with a shootout goal.
