Takeaways from Avs’ big win over Blues: More Makar Magic

Published

on

OK, let’s just get right into the analysis/takeaways from this Avs win, rather than the tired, outdated “game story.”  People seem to like these better. But for those who want the result right away: Avalanche 5, St. Louis Blues 3, at the Pepsi Center. Avs move to 2-0-2 on this homestand, with the Detroit Red Wings coming in on Monday, same time, same place.

  • Cale Makar’s goal was definitely the turning point of the game. It was the kind of individual, game-breaking play that few players can do, especially as a defenseman, but No. 8 clearly has that kind of talent. It broke a 2-2 tie, and set the Blues back on their haunches a little bit, I thought. It was kind of a “Oh @$$@” moment for the Blues, who I thought had been getting the better of the play to that point in the game.
