CONTEST HAS ENDED: Congrats to subscribers Alex Burrow (Sakic TV Guide) and Jenni Vester (playoff program). We will do a lot more of these drawings. Thanks to all who entered. Alex was the 17th subscriber to enter and Vester was No. 57, and those were the two numbers that came up in my app lottery wheel, of the 119 entrants.
OK my merry bunch of Colorado Hockey Now subscribers: Time to start giving back to you in the little ways that I can.
With membership comes little giveaways of the kind I’ll do here. Nothing too earth-shattering, but I thought it would be fun to raffle off a couple of rare Avalanche artifacts from the 1990s.
To be eligible to win, simply say “I’m in” in the comment section. At 9 p.m. tonight, I’ll count up the number of comments/entrants and spin a wheel (there’s an app for that) with the number of participants. If you’re the first commenter, you get No. 1, if you’re fifth on the list, you’re No. 5, etc. etc. Whatever random number the wheel rests upon is the winner, and I’ll email you that, hey, you’re a winner. Then we’ll make arrangements for me to send them to you. I will pay for all postage.
This first contest is for the older-school Avs fans, who remember the glory days. You younger subscribers are still eligible to win them, of course. And they are really a cool couple of collectibles. Very rare.
The first item is a genuine Joe Sakic TV Guide magazine, from 1996. It was a special edition of TV Guide, on sale only in Colorado at the time. Along with the actual Bible, TV Guide was probably in more American homes than any other publication, for decades.
It’s in real good condition, and is highly sought after by Avs collectors.
The second item is a game program from the 1996 playoffs, which of course was a Stanley Cup season for the Avs.
It’s totally ’90s, all the way through, with crazy graphics and cool stuff inside.
So, just say “I’m in” in the comments, and you are officially entered. I will do the lottery drawing tonight. This is for CHN subscribers only (and I can tell if you’re not). I will take entries right up to the 9 p.m. hour. Don’t worry if you don’t see your comment right away. Some have to be approved manually by me, and I may be away from the computer at times. But I’ll approve them all by lottery time. And hey, you can subscribe right up until the 9 p.m. hour, and still be eligible. In other words, if this contest gets me a new subscriber or two, I’ll be happy (and so will you, either way!).
I plan to do a bunch of these. I hope as many of you can win free stuff as possible. As always, thanks for being a subscriber.
