Deadline Deals: I Want Jonathan Drouin (and I want poutine, but that’s beside the point)

With the NHL trade deadline approaching faster than a hognose on an unsuspecting hare, it would be crude and slack of me not to divulge some thoughts on just who Joe Sakic should chase in the coming hours, and why.

In no particular order… Let’s start with Jonathan Drouin.

Reuniting The Halifax Kids

By this, I mean that Jonathan Drouin, and yes I am saying the Avs should trade for him. Yes, I am aware the cost is high. Yes, I am aware he has a contract that runs through 2022-23 at a cooooool 5.5m average annual value. That is why I would be comfortable should Joe pay that little bit extra to get him. Ponder this: if you are going out to buy a used car, are you willing to throw in that bit of extra dosh for some chrome mags, thorough detail and the little tree that makes your ride smell nice? Of course. Why not spend a little bit more, to get that little bit better bounce, that little extra glance in the rearview mirror to all your pathetic little wanna-be followers?
