Dater’s Daily Links: NHL post-trade-deadline look around the league

Published

on

No Avalanche morning skate today, so a little more time for some morning links. A couple of notes about the Avs-Sabres game tonight: It’s a 6 p.m. start, because of TV (It’ll be on NBCSN. Altitude is not broadcasting the game, so everybody will be able to see it. Or, at least I think so. With this wacky, stupid TV thing this year, I guess you never know anymore).

Another note: I haven’t been told about any change to the status of Andre Burakovsky or Matt Nieto as “doubtful” to play.

Some links from around the league:

The Chicago Blackhawks are getting barbecued in the local press for their trade-deadline moves (Chicago Sun-Times)

Some sad quotes here from Joe Thornton, who wanted to be moved by the Sharks at the deadline for a Bourque-ian chance at a Cup, but it didn’t happen (San Jose Mercury News)

More on the incredible story of David Ayres (NHL.com)

(Bill Daly, NHL deputy commissioner and Gary Bettman’s likely successor, was quoted as saying there are “no easy fixes” for the emergency goalie thing that led to Ayres’ sudden fame. Bill, there’s nothing to fix! It’s a great story, the fans love it and it’s what endears hockey to so many people, things like that).

Speaking of the local team getting barbecued in the local press for what they did (or didn’t do) at the deadline, we bring you the Montreal Canadiens (Montreal Gazette)

Some interesting notes on the St. Louis Blues here (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

Me, talking Avs’ deadline moves last night on the radio (104.3 The Fan)

Wayne Simmonds, on being a Buffalo Sabre (he’ll make his debut against the Avs tonight) (Buffalo News)

Hurray! The Avs-Red Wings game Monday night will be on free TV locally (Colorado Avalanche)
