Inside the Avalanche Locker Room: Martin Kaut is in the books

It’s always fun for me to see a kid get his first NHL goal. I’ve seen a few by now in these 25 years hanging around Avalanche dressing rooms.

Martin Kaut was the latest, and I have the picture to prove it (above). It’s funny, Kaut kept asking, “Where’s my puck, where’s my puck?”, and it finally was produced by some Avs personnel from back of the room. He will cherish that forever, of course.

Great atmosphere in the room after the win over Buffalo. Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life” was booming from the team boom box when we all walked in. When things quieted down some, I got some audio with the man who scored the game-winning goal, 1-877-GOALS-NOW J.T. Compher, and young Kaut himself.

That’s a nice thing for the Eurolanche crew that trekked all over the Western U.S. to see their heroes. The Eurolanchers earned some respect from me with their pictures of some of their lodgings from the road, things like Motel 6’s in small towns in Arizona and California and whatnot.

As someone running my own site now, I have become familiar with some of the, uh, more economical hotel chains out there this season. And, I’ve loved it. I never liked fancy.

OK, some uncut audio here of Compher and Kaut:
