Avalanche-Ducks Game Review: Worst Overtime Team Ever

Published

on

The Avalanche’s record in overtime regular-season games in the last two seasons: 7-20.

What’s fascinating to me is how many different ways the Avs find ways to blow extra points, but today took the cake. Tyson Jost has a breakaway with about seven seconds on the clock in overtime. You’re sitting there thinking: Well, worst-case scenario, we’re on to a shootout, best case, Jost wins it and we all go home.

So what happens? Tyson fans on the breakaway attempt, gets taken out behind the net, Rickard Rakell comes down the ice in a 2-on-2 situation and just fires a what-the-heck shot from the right wall with a little more than one second left.

Bullseye. Game over. Avs lose AGAIN in OT, to the Anaheim Ducks.

Served them right, really, because the Avs played like they were only interested in this game for fits and starts.
