LOS ANGELES – Of all the people Nathan MacKinnon thought might slew foot him in a game, Martin Frk would probably be well down on the list. The two players were teammates, after all, in junior hockey with the Halifax Mooseheads on a Memorial Cup-winning team in 2013.

But the fact is that MacKinnon – the Avalanche’s most important player, by far – was injured tonight here in Los Angeles after an apparent slew foot by Frk, along the boards midway through the second period of Colorado’s 3-1 loss to the Kings.
