What’s ‘Kraken’? Avalanche welcome new Seattle franchise, share excitement on expansion

There’s much to be excited about when you consider the new Seattle NHL franchise: the sleek logo, the refreshing color schemes, a sports-thirsty city so deserving of a new sports team finally getting one. But above all, it’s a sign of positive growth in the NHL. 

The league formally welcomed its 32nd franchise on Thursday, revealing the team’s moniker as the “Kraken,” while also unveiling the team’s logos, colors and its jerseys. By most accounts, people are loving it, including a couple Colorado Avalanche members, who shared their thoughts shortly after the announcement was made.
