Cale Makar feeling “perfect” right now

EDMONTON, ALBERTA – It was my one and only Zoom question that, apparently, was allowed in what was a brief meeting of three Avalanche players, plus Jared Bednar, in separate Zoom sessions with media on Monday. So, I had to make it count, at least with the player part. For me, that meant one player in particular: Cale Makar.

Me, to Cale Makar: “Cale, you probably can’t get too perfect, but how are you feeling right now, considering you missed some time in training camp?”

Cale Makar to me (and others on the Zoom call): “I’m feeling perfect right now.”

Is that specific enough for you, Avs fan?

Makar went through a full practice today at the Terwillegar Family Recreation Centre, a four-ice-sheet complex that will serve some days as a practice location for the Avs and other NHL teams. Some days, the practice will be closer to their J.W. Marriott hotel quarters, right next to Rogers Place, where the first of some NHL exhibition games will take place starting tomorrow. The Avs and Minnesota Wild will play an exhibition game Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. mountain (It’ll be broadcast on Altitude, with Marc Moser and Peter McNab on the call. The game also will be on the NHL Network, but will be blacked out in the Denver area because Altitude owns exclusive territorial rights. Currently, the only way you can see Altitude (legally) in Denver is with DIRECTV. The game will be broadcast live on Altitude, and will be rebroadcast later that night).

Makar, who missed some time at Phase 3 training camp with an unspecified ailment, wore a full-contact jersey and is back to having the quarterback role on the first power-play unit.

It was a full roster, in fact, that practiced today. Makar’s full return is great news for an Avs team that is one of the top four favorites in the betting odds to win a Stanley Cup.

Makar said he had a “really good practice.”

That is GOOD news.

Here’s more from Altitude on their broadcast schedule, through the round-robin games. They also have exclusive rights to the first-round games:
