Avalanche Pull off Game 2 “Escape” Victory over Coyotes

EDMONTON, ALBERTA – Let’s face it: the Avalanche got away with one today against the Arizona Coyotes. But like the late, great Harry Houdini, the Avs found a way to escape a bad fate.

The Arizona Coyotes badly outplayed the Avs today, outshooting, outworking, out-battling them for big chunks of Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series. But there’s your difference between this Avs team and so many others of recent vintage; the Avs are deep and talented enough to get away with that once in a while, even in a playoff game.

I fully expected a better Coyotes team than the one the Avs dominated from start to finish in Game 1, but I didn’t expect them to be this good. There were times when it seemed like just a moral victory for the Avs if they were able to get the puck on their sticks. Arizona seemed like the more confident team too, like they knew this would be an even series by supper time.
