Avs-Blues LIVE (1/15): First period analysis

Jordan Binnington.

That was pretty much the story of the first period between the Avs and Blues here at Ball Arena.

Binner made 13 saves in the period to get the Blues a scoreless tie, despite two Blues power plays to one for Colorado. Cale Makar had the best scoring chance in the period, but was robbed by Binnington on a pad save after Makar streaked down the middle off a Nathan MacKinnon pass.

The Avs have scored one goal in four periods now on the season, despite a very solid first 20 here. Philipp Grubauer had to make a couple of mildly tough saves among his seven.

The Avs had their four-game home-opening victory streak stopped two nights ago by the Blues.
