A Dining Review of MacKinnon Krunch Cereal

MacKinnon Krunch

Anyone who knows me knows that I am an avid collector of hockey memorabilia. From team issued jerseys, pucks, locker room nameplates, etc, I love it all. I have never collected a cereal box before, though. So when AD published his story of a specialized cereal coming to King Soopers shelves with Nathan MacKinnon on the box, named MacKinnon Krunch, it ratcheted my FOMO up to 10.

It did it so much so that I actually went to my local King Soopers at 11:30 p.m. to see if I could grab a box. Lo and behold, I was in luck. There on the middle shelf was the coveted MacKinnon Krunch.

The cereal itself is frosted corn flakes, which already makes it a top-tier cereal in my book. The box features Nathan MacKinnon in all black CCM gear (probably cheaper without Avalanche branding?) in front of an icy backdrop with the title MacKinnon Krunch stylized to be shattering.

A side of the box features MacKinnon’s career stats, as well as his hometown and draft info. The cereal is available only exclusively at King Soopers. There is supposed to be a press release on Wednesday from the marketing group connected with the cereal.

The back of the box lets buyers complete a maze that urges players to “Help Nathan MacKinnon score a goal.”

But how does the cereal taste? Well, it tastes like frosted corn flakes. Very good!

For anyone that likes collecting hockey memorabilia, specifically Avs stuff, this will be a must-have purchase that won’t break the bank. The only caveat being that you’ll need to be in Colorado to grab it. Just make sure you’re not too late.
