D
Toews-Girard

NOTEBOOK: Bo Byram skated today, but Jared Bednar said he’s still not ready to go. That means Kyle Burroughs will make his NHL debut, after several years in the American Hockey League. Burroughs, a seventh-round pick of the New York Islanders in 2013, is a right-shot D who plays with a bit of an edge. He was acquired by the Avs last summer for A.J. Greer. … He played eight games for the Eagles this season before getting the call-up. … Bednar said Matt Calvert (upper body) is “week to week.” Bednar said Calvert is “doing well” but had a couple of minor setbacks in the past week. He almost resumed skating the other day but had a setback. Bednar said he does not think Calvert is a long-term thing, but it does seem there is some uncertainty about that. … Burroughs said “there’s some nerves there” in making his debut, but that he’s ready for it. He said he gave a quick text to his dad this morning when he found out he was in the lineup. … Burroughs said he “tries to make it hard on the opposition” when he’s out there. … Avs are -160 favorites to win outright at SuperBook Colorado. The Wild are +145.
