Another Avs positive Covid test – this is getting more serious

That makes three. Three players on the Avs now have tested positive for Covid-19. The latest positive test, to a still-unnamed player, was announced this morning. The morning skate was canceled.

So, yeah, this is getting a bit worrisome. Philipp Grubauer and Bo Byram already have tested positive and remain in quarantine. Now, another one. Now, we have to sweat out until later this afternoon to find out who it is (the NHL is very strict about keeping identities of players who’ve tested positive under wraps until they’re ready to release it).

The Avs got vaccinated as a team Monday night, but since then there have been two positive tests. I’m not a doctor, so I have no idea how/why that can happen.

The Covid list usually is released between 3 and 3:30 p.m. mountain time every day. So, we’re about three hours away from knowing.

The Masters

Because the skate was canceled, I have no lineup information for tonight’s game – still scheduled – against the Los Angeles Kings. When the Avs do that, all media opportunities disappear too.

We’ll obviously update this when we know more…

I hope this does not become another Vancouver situation

Joshua Canfield

As of 12:55pm-MST, the teams official NHL page says they have postponed games through April 21st. So, they will not play again until next Thursday, April 22nd. That’s too bad. Hopefully this doesn’t get worse.

Rick Hartman

Whelp the league just PPD the next 3 games it seems. I hope all affected will be ok, but I am curious as to what took so long to get the team their vaccinations especially since the Canucks situation should have been a big red flag for the NHL and all the teams.

Holy Christ someone has flu like symptoms! Batten down the hatches!!!

sarasota curt

Potentially debilitating or life-threatening disease. Highly contagious. Not flu. Wake up. Caution is important.

Aaron Hinton

Great diagnosis, Dr. Curt. Thank you for enlightening us.

Richard Trujillo

Potentially debilitating or life threatening disease……to a very specific group of people. Don’t keep forgetting to leave that very important piece of information out.

Joanna

Not true. Plenty of young and healthy adults in the military have had their careers interrupted and possibly ended because they got COVID and now their cardio-vascular systems are wrecked. The current largest group being hospitalized in the COVID hot spots in the US are younger adults.

A virus that is 95-99% survivable for the majority of the population? Some serious disease we are talking about!…

Ari Sachter-Smith

Jayson Tatum has to use an inhaler just to play now after contracting COVID but sure no big deal right?

Max Stetson

One anecdotal story does not make confirm and justify the irrational hysteria we have seen over this virus. This guy might have had preexisting conditions that contributed to this. They also might have gotten a bad version of the flu, which suspiciously has been down almost 95% year over year. If he did, and if many people have gotten the flu instead of COVID, would we be reacting to it like we are now? Previous years we havent? So none of this make rational sense. Like a coward you are repeating what you hear on TV and are covering up… Read more »

[…] and the Colorado Avalanche was in the rearview mirror, the virus has had other ideas. There is no game tonight against the Los Angeles Kings, no game against the Kings on Sunday and no game between the Avs and […]

Adrian, you aren’t considered fully vaccinated until you’ve had both vaccinations, PLUS 14 days. That means they were exposed well before their vaccinations. likely because someone had a family member or friend with them who had not been wearing masks in public.

Max Stetson

Well now we are hearing you need a third vaccine in 12 months to become “fully vaccinated.” None of this is rational so stop acting like it is.

Ariel Sachter-Smith

It’s to protect against variants that are now the dominant strains because people like you keep making health issues political issues.

Max Stetson

Rightttt. The same sociopathic people who just issued a warning of nuclear war are the same people we should listen to about our health. Makes sense!

THEYRE making a political issue. Not us.
