J.T. Compher faces a mountain of expectations, but he’s excited to climb it

J.T. Compher

Among the pantheon of polarizing Colorado Avalanche players sits J.T. Compher.

The 26-year-old winger has been on the Avs roster for all five years of his young NHL career, and many would say he hasn’t quite measured up to expectations. Not lately, at least.

“I wasn’t happy with how my season went last year and there were some tough conversations to have with myself in the summer,” Compher admitted.

To be fair, expectations were probably quite low in his first two years in Denver—the atrocious 2016-17 campaign and the surprise playoff berth the following season. But over the last three years, there’s no doubt that expectations have been a mile high in Denver.
