Frei column: Will THIS be the year for the Avalanche?

When I sat down to write, I fully intended to predict for the third consecutive season that the Avalanche would win the Stanley Cup.

That’s because I had half-jokingly, half-seriously promised myself I would keep doing it until I got it right.

I said the same thing in in October 2019.

And also in January 2021.

I didn’t make those predictions to pander to the pro-Avalanche constituency. Or to lead cheers.

Rather, I truly believed that they were capable of pulling it off.
