Cale Makar quietly confident despite missing preseason

Cale Makar, the Avalanche’s prized young defenseman, Tuesday was asked about not playing in any of Colorado’s six exhibition games.

“In my case here it was just precautionary, basically, just making sure I’ll be ready for opening night,” he said after the Avalanche practice at Ball Arena. “I should be good to go.”

I asked what he was being precautionary about.
