Sunday Notes: Trouble in Montreal, injury issues in Vegas, McDavid en fuego already

Good Sunday to you all. Not a cloud in the sky, beautiful day. So why am I spending it in front of a laptop? Well, kid’s gotta eat. My wife is going to the Bronco game. She’s from Greeley, a big fan. I’m from New Hampshire, a big Patriots fan. But, hey, I like the Broncos too. I truly was sweating it out in 1998 in that Bronco-Packers Super Bowl. I worked every DaterJinx I had in my arsenal to help get that Bronco victory.

But this is a hockey site, so let’s so some hockey links:

  • The Montreal Canadiens are 0-3, and have scored all of three goals in the losses. The natives are already growing restless (Montreal Hockey Now)
  • Plug here by the way, to you Canadian hockey fans, which is a lot of you: We now have four sites covering Canadian teams (Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver). Buy a subscription to any one of them, get access to all four sites. We hope to have the same for our U.S. sites at some point soon. Get $10 off any of the Canadian sites by throwing in the promo code of that team name in the checkout box. For example, use Flames in the checkout box here at Calgary Hockey Now, get the $10 off and get access to four team sites (Calgary Hockey Now)
  • Connor McDavid, a hat trick last night against the Flames. He’s just an unreal talent (breaking news, I know, Dater) (Calgary Hockey Now)
  • The Avs aren’t the only team with early injury troubles (Hockey News)
  • After the Penguins beat the Chicago Blackhawks, Sidney Crosby surprised head coach Mike Sullivan with a game puck, and Tristan Jarry gave him the game helmet. Pretty cool locker room video
  • Vegas: Max Pacioretty is out for weeks with a fractured foot. Bad news for Vegas Golden Knights, who are off to a shaky start.
  • Vancouver: The Canucks dominated the Detroit Red Wings...and lost. Here’ why.
  • The Capitals – the Avs’ opponent Tuesday night – are off to a bit of a slow start (Washington Hockey Now)
  • Anybody else looking forward to the coming six-hour Beatles documentary on Disney Plus, done by Peter Jackson? I sure am.
  • Ryan Graves’ first game with New Jersey: an assist and a +4 in a 4-3 win.
  • Alex Newhook will play for the Colorado Eagles tonight in Henderson, Nevada.
