Sam Girard out tonight against Vegas; Kurtis MacDermid in

Well, so much for there being no consequences from that big Steven Stamkos hit on Sam Girard. Although he’s listed as day-to-day by the Avalanche, Girard will not play tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights, coach Jared Bednar said this morning. Girard is still feeling the effects of being dumped into the boards in overtime of Saturday’s game by Stamkos, who escaped the incident with zero punishment from referees or the league.

Defenseman Jacob MacDonald has been recalled from the Colorado Eagles, but the team said that he will be a healthy scratch tonight. Kurtis MacDermid is back in the lineup.
