Frei column: Know how sometimes it just doesn’t feel right? Like, right now with the Avalanche?

As winger Gabe Landeskog, defenseman Cale Makar and coach Jared Bednar took their turns at the table and microphone in the Ball Arena interview room Tuesday night, their audience and questioners included at least three of us who have covered the team since its 1995 arrival in Denver.

Several other media members among the group have institutional knowledge that goes back almost that far.

We’ve seen a lot over the years — from parades to international incidents — and I’m confident we’re not overreacting.

The biggest issue about the Avalanche’s start is not the record.

They’re 2-4 after the 3-1 Tuesday night loss to the injury-plagued Vegas Golden Knights.

The problem is that this might be what the Avs are.
