Dater’s Daily: Conor Timmins season over, Sherwood recalled by Avs, Tiresome Eichel melodrama drags on

Happy Wednesday to all. A cool, crisp, clear autumn day on tap in the Mile High City. Love it. Let’s do some hockey links on this Avs game day, starting with unfortunate news about former Av Conor Timmins:

  • After initially saying he would be out about three months, the Arizona Coyotes now are saying that Conor Timmins will be lost for the entire season, to a knee injury. Just real tough news for a good kid and good player (Craig Morgan)
  • So, the Avs just called up Kiefer Sherwood from the Colorado Eagles. Why Sherwood, and not someone like Alex Newhook? Well, for one thing, Sherwood is the Eagles’ leading scorer, with 10 points in eight games.
  • I was at the Eagles game last night, though, and Newhook looked real good, with two assists in a 2-1 win. Newhook has six points in seven games for the Eagles. He’ll be back on the Avs at some point soon I predict.
  • Justus Annunen looked good last night, though he needs to get quicker from side to side.
  • The endless Jack Eichel saga enters another day. Reports keep saying it’s down to Vegas and Calgary. Just make the deal already (Vegas Hockey Now)
  • Montreal Hockey Now: Carey Price could return to the NHL this week, but as Jon Still writes–so what. Price can’t save the Canadiens, and he should take the time he needs.
  • Detroit: Moritz Seider is one of the Detroit Red Wings super rookies. He keeps piling up the accolades and awards, including NHL rookie of the month.
  • Boston Bruins players frustrated with the NHLPA over the Blackhawks scandal (Boston Hockey Now)
  • Another sexual assault scandal rocked the NHL on Tuesday and our man in Pitt, Dan Kingerski, has the details on how the Pittsburgh Penguins are involved. (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)
  • The Vegas Golden Knights will be without another key forward for the next six weeks and our Owen Krepps has the details. (Vegas Hockey Now)
  • After the first month of the season, it’s hard to argue that Jacob Markstrom isn’t a Vezina Trophy candidate. (Calgary Hockey Now)
