Avs notebook: Sampo Ranta sent back to Eagles, is Alex Newhook soon to be promoted?

Jeff Roberson/AP

Sampo Ranta was sent back to the Colorado Eagles today, after a 10-game stint with the Colorado Avalanche in which he produced zero goals and zero assists. He would have had one goal, in St. Louis, but had the goal disallowed when it was determined Bo Byram was just hair offsides.

Hopefully, Ranta goes down and does what Alex Newhook did, which is put up at least a point a game (11 points in 10 games).
