When Avalache vs. Red Wings was transformed from a matchup to heated rivarly in the 1996 Western Conference Finals — with, among other things, Dino Ciccarelli disbelieving he shook Claude Lemieux’s frigigin’ hand — young Darren Helm was 9 years old.
