Takeaways from Avalanche win over Winnipeg

The thing I really like about the Avalanche right now? The consistency. Can anyone remember the last time the Avs played a really poor game? (And, no, I’m not counting that game in Nashville, when about a quarter of the team came down with Covid and they had about 15 skaters).

It used to be that games like tonight’s might be an off night for the Avs, when maybe they got a little too enamored with their press clippings or something and just laid an egg. Not these days. Tonight, they just went out and wore out another opponent with their speed, depth and puck possession.

The crazy thing is, the Avs still trail three teams in the Central Division in points. But they do have multiple games in hand on each team. Still, they have to keep winning because of this. And, right now, they are.

That’s 10 wins in a row at home now, tying the franchise record.
