Takeaways from Avalanche 6-4 win over Chicago (+)

Marc-Andre Fleury has given up nine goals in his last two starts. Do we still want him as the starting goalie for the playoffs? That was one of my questions after last night’s 6-4 Avalanche victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center.

I’m saying that mostly in a flippant way, of course. Fleury is a likely future Hall of Famer and model citizen and isn’t playing on a very good team right now, but it’s not all that irrelevant a question. A lot of people seem to think the Avs need to trade for a goalie like Fleury to get them to the promised land this spring, but Fleury is 37 and has a .909 saves percentage this season. Darcy Kuemper’s is .913 and Pavel Francouz’s is .927.

But, OK, let’s shelve the great goalie debate for a later time and talk about last night:
