We’re back in action tonight. Avalanche vs. Tampa Bay Lightning, Ball Arena, 7 p.m. On paper, it’s a great game. We’ll see if it actually is one or not. Here are the Avalanche lines, D pairs and goalie for tonight,:
Landeskog-Rantanen-Nichushkin
Newhook-Kadri-Burakovsky
Jost-Compher-O’Connor
Maltsev-Helm-Kubel
D
Toews-Makar
J. Johnson-Girard

NOTEBOOK: Kurtis MacDermid will be a healthy scratch tonight, Jared Bednar said. … Darren Helm makes his return from injury. … Bednar said Nathan MacKinnon looks good for a Sunday return. MacKinnon skated again this morning in a regular jersey. … Former Hart Trophy winner Nikita Kucherov will return to the Lightning lineup, after a stint on the Covid list. … Avs are -115 favorites to beat the Lightning at SuperBook Colorado. …
Why scratch MacDermid? Why play Helms? Why play Maltsev as opposed to Sikura? Three bad personnel decision IMHO.
When do we disagree? Stupid sitting MacDermid against a big physical team like Tampa. Joe must be dangling Helms as trade bait. Fleury and/or Ben Chiarot for Helms perhaps?
Well would have loved to have Mac out there and have all of our firepower for this potential SC showdown. MacDermaid has been playing well, but agree better to have speed and increased skill out there. If Helms doesn’t start playing better, time to waive him or send him off at trade deadline.
Tall task tonight, but hopefully home ice will give us the advantage even with Mac
