Colorado Avalanche lines, D pairs, goalie for Jets tonight

Pavel Francouz Colorado Avalanche

Pavel Francouz gets the start for the Colorado Avalanche tonight in Winnipeg, against a Jets team whose playoff chances are on life support. That’s one of the storylines for the game, after a two-day break for the Avs.

Sam Girard is cleared to play again – but he won’t play tonight. As Jared Bednar said the other day, he wants to give him another day before returning. He is expected to play tomorrow night in Edmonton. Valeri Nichushkin will play, after missing one game with illness, the Avs said.

So, these look to be the lines and D pairs for tonight:

Burakovsky-MacKinnon-Rantanen

Lehkonen-Compher-Nichushkin

Newhook-Sturm-Kubel

Cogliano-Helm-O’Connor

Superstreak Bonus!

D

Toews-Makar

Byram-Manson

J. Johnson-E. Johnson

NOTEBOOK: Kurtis MacDermid will be a healthy scratch. … The Jets have lost their last three games and it’ll take a minor miracle for them to make the playoffs. … Blake Wheeler won’t play for the Jets tonight. He was hurt in Wednesday’s game against Detroit. Wheeler is the team’s third-leading scorer. … Avs are -180 favorites to beat the Jets tonight at SuperBook Colorado. … Hey, CHN fence-sitters: The playoffs are coming. I’m offering new subscribers $5 off right now for signing up today. You’ll get 12 months of Avs coverage for $24.99 instead of $29.99 by using the promo code 5off in the checkout box. Going to be really interesting to see who sits on D tomorrow night to make room for g – maybe Bednar starts rotating the Johnsons so they get rested to the playoffs.

Good to get some rest for the J&J line. Girard will get the crap beat out of him come playoff time.

Careful AR, you will get the wrath from the unknowing Avs fans! 😉

lighten up, francis

Bruh. Take it easy with the Girard hate. He was actually pretty good in the bubble. And he created one of my favorite Avs playoff moments (of this generation) when he gave Ryan Johansen the slip and made him break his ankles and go face first into the boards that year against the Preds. Looks like Sakic has made it possible for G to play a more appropriate sheltered role this year. Girard will be fine, just calm down.

Donald Victory

Oh my. You calm down Lil Charles.

Lil Sammy will again be manhandled in the playoffs. He has the weakest wrister in the NHL and a weak slapper to match. His vision on the ice is below average. His size is below average. His passing is below average. His checking is below average. His balerina skating in circles and escapability is above average.

There you have it. Below average on balance. When he chokes, enjoy! He will not be on the Avs next season. Enjoy the g-afs…

Hey Victory–you DO like to stir the pot. Funny how you can stress some folks. Have fun with that sandpaper.

5off the monthly too? 😉 Stefan M. What’s the story?

If we just had a little Eagles coverage that would be nice. It is called Colorado Hockey Now after all. Help us out AD!

Matteau is a thicker body way tougher than JT, LOC, Cogs, and Helm. Add him in for the long ride to Cup victory!

I think that it would be interesting to see Newhook at C on the 2nd line. He is starting to come on strong.
