Francouz hurt, Justus Annunen recalled

Matt Slocum/AP

Well, it appears the puck to the face that Pavel Francouz took last night in Edmonton will cost him some time with the active roster. The Colorado Avalanche today recalled Justus Annunen from the Colorado Eagles, and he’ll either start Sunday’s game in Winnipeg, or be the backup to Darcy Kuemper.

There is no word yet on any prognosis for Francouz, who took a puck to the face while sitting on the bench in the first period last night and left the game. After the game, Jared Bednar said he thought Francouz was “OK”, but that the next morning would tell more. The news obviously wasn’t as good the next morning.

Bednar said Francouz might have been hit near an eye. Let’s hope there’s nothing broken, because those injuries can put a guy out for weeks.

Superstreak Bonus!

Annunen has a 24-13-6 record with the Eagles, but the save percentage of .893 leaves something to be desired. He’s been somewhat streaky with the Eagles. He’s played two games previously this season with the Avs, with a 1-0-1 record and .863 save percentage.

The Avs are not practicing today, so more information on Francouz is unlikely until tomorrow.

…and MAF went for a (conditional) 2nd rounder.

Double Uuugghh!

Matt Briggle

Two thigs about that – you’re assuming he would have agreed to come here, and where would we find the 3.5 mil in cap space to fit him in?

Yep. 100% MAF would have come here. He agreed to Minnie for gawds sake! đŸ˜€

He’d win 2 more Cups and have all time bragging rights over Marty and Patrick.

After that, he’d be up there with Ken and Jacques. That counts big time.

Here’s hoping it’s a swelling issue that will resolve itself and Annunen is just a backup.

Only the Avs would get a key player hurt sitting on the bench…

Franky should have kept his mask on even on the bench. All new meaning to keeping eye on the puck.

want to take it easy at end of reg season now won’t have home ice if they play florida who isn’t taking foot off pedal that I know of. losing to bad teams, had good hope in them now not so sure. hope they pull their head out and show some urgency.
