Avalanche Stanley Cup

MUNICH – A little betting talk here from Munchen, in between trips to the Oktoberfest tents. Wish you were here, as it’s a lovely city with polite, friendly people. I’ve met a surprising number of people who say they are big hockey fans too. There is at least one big Avalanche fan, too, who is bringing a copy of “Blood Feud” to my hotel to get it signed. Now that’s a real Avalanche fan. Anyone else here reading this who wants the same thing, drop a note in the comments here and we can work something out. … In the meantime, I’ve been catching up on what the sportsbooks are saying about the Avalanche chances for the next Stanley Cup, and they remain atop the favorites’ list.

At SuperBook Colorado, the Avalanche are the faves, at +350. For those who don’t get what “+350” means, it means, on a bet of $100, you would win a profit of $350 if they win it. Plus, you’d get your original $100 back, for a grand total of $450 to your bank account. The Toronto Maple Leafs are the next-best favorite, at +800. Florida and Tampa Bay are both +1000.

Connor McDavid is the favorite to win the Hart Trophy, at +300. Nathan MacKinnon is +1400 to win. A c-note on No. 29, if he won, would win you $1,400. Just open an account with SuperBook and place your bets (SuperBook is a sponsor of this here site, full disclosure).

These odds will likely change throughout the season. But in general, the favorites to start the season tend to stay at or near the top the whole way through, assuming they make the playoffs. The Avalanche went wire-to-wire as the favorites, or whatever, last season and we saw what happened.
