Takeaways From Colorado Avalanche 2-1 Win Over Stars (+)

The old joke about NHL preseason games goes something along the lines of if-a-tree-falls-in-the-forest-does-it-make-a-sound kind of thing. Statistically, officially, they never really happened. But that doesn’t mean that a surprisingly well-attended Ball Arena crowd had a night they’ll never remember. Colorado Avalanche fans were treated to a 2-1 victory, with the Avalanche scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to overcome a 1-0 deficit. The building was loud after the win, even though it doesn’t count.

Mikko Rantanen’s shot from the side of the net with 2:18 left won the game, not too long after Logan O’Connor tied it was a goal that bounced high into the air and into the net.

That does it for the preseason for the Colorado Avalanche. Next game: Wednesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks. Banner raising, Stanley Cup rings and other pageantries. Get there early.
