Takeaways From Colorado Avalanche 6-3 Win Over Wild (+)

About that penalty kill…Yeah, uh, that area of the Colorado Avalanche game needs some work, this much we can surmise after three games of the 2022-23 season. Of the five goals Alexandar Georgiev has allowed so far in two games, all five came with the Avalanche short-handed. Four have come on conventional opposition power plays, and another was on a delayed penalty.



The good news? Georgiev is 2-0 as an Avalanche goalie. Win No. 2 came tonight at the Xcel Energy Center, 6-3 over the Minnesota Wild in an entertaining, if not always fundamentally well-played contest. And you know what? I thought Georgie was the Avalanche’s best player tonight. He made 36 saves. Yeah, and he had a little luck, too.
