Old friend Jordan Binnington is back in town, and will start against the Colorado Avalanche tonight for the St. Louis Blues at Ball Arena. This will be his first game against the Avalanche since suffering that knee injury in Game 3 of the second round last season, with Nazem Kadri colliding with him.

I’m sure Binnington will get a warm ovation from the Ball Arena faithful tonight. Alexandar Georgiev will get the start against Binnington. Georgie is 7-1-1 as an Avalanche goalie so far.

So, more bad injury news: Kurtis MacDermid will be lost 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury, Jared Bednar said. Andreas Englund, a big D-man who can also fight, figures to be the replacement for No. 56 in the Avalanche lineup, at least for now. He will be in the lineup tonight for Colorado.

Based on the morning skate, these look to be the lines for Colorado tonight:

NOTEBOOK: Kaut and Megna stayed late after other players went to the room. Normally, those are the scratched guys, but maybe they’re still in because, well, the Avalanche don’t have enough players otherwise. … Mikko Rantanen was named first star of the week in the NHL. … The mothers of Blues players are all on the trip with the team. They were in the stands for the morning skate. … Asked about the play of late by Alex Newhook, Bednar said he was great in Finland, but “kind of quiet” since the team got back. … Bednar said Sam Girard is getting closer to a return. He said he didn’t have a timetable yet on Bo Byram, other than the original “week to week” prognosis.
