Dater’s Daily: Erik Karlsson Trade Chatter; How Has Vegas Gotten Good Again?
Greetings from a very snowy Thornton. My son better be doing some shoveling today, is all I can say. I used to ski a lot – well, I worked at a ski resort (Stratton Mountain) in Vermont one winter and really skied a lot with my free pass as an employee. But skiing generally isn’t recommended for men in their 50s with chronic low-back pain, so here I sit, surrounded by snow and not able to enjoy any of it. Let’s do some NHL links, notes and whatnot, with some trade rumors involving Erik Karlsson.
- Sharks GM Mike Grier said he is listening to offers for Erik Karlsson, and other reports say the Sharks and Karlsson’s former team, Ottawa, are talking about a return swap (San Jose Hockey Now).
- The problem could be Karlsson’s enormous cap hit ($11.5 million, with four years still left on his deal).
- Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon on why the Golden Knights are out to such a fast start (Vegas Hockey Now)
- Somehow, I binged on the HBO Max series “Wahl Street”, about Mark Wahlberg. While he seems like a nice guy, I came away with the feeling that what he’s most interested in is making his next fast buck, whether it’s jumping into the gym apparel industry, the tequila business or other assorted get-rich-quicker schemes.
- Dallas is scuffling again. The Avalanche will play in Dallas next week. What’s going wrong in Big D? (Dallas Hockey Now)
- Should Tampa Bay be worried about Andrei Vasilevskiy’s play? (Hockey News)
- Geez, we’re still only in mid-November and the Boston Bruins are already humble-bragging how they can’t get too complacent? (Boston Hockey Now)
- Long way to go, B’s.
- Marc-Andre Fleury will miss some time to injury (NHL.com)
- The perenially hurt Jonathan Drouin will be out 4-6 weeks for the Canadiens (NHL.com)
