Despite a continued rash of injuries, the Colorado Avalanche continue to play pretty solid hockey, the latest example a fine winning performance against the Dallas Stars.

The Avalanche got tremendous goaltending from Alexandar Georgiev, especially in the first half of the game when he had to make a lot of tough saves, and locked things down better defensively after that.

Josh Manson had an eventful night, scoring a goal and taking three separate penalties – and not getting any help from the refs when he was clearly high-sticked to the face in the second period. Nathan MacKinnon scored an early power-play goal to get the party started for the Avalanche in their new reverse retro uniforms. The Avalanche are now 12-6-1 – three points behind Dallas but with three games in hand.
