Colorado Avalanche
Nathan MacKinnon To Miss About A Month
Four weeks or so. That’s what Nathan MacKinnon is likely to miss because of his upper-body injury, suffered Monday night in Philadelphia. That’s what the Avalanche tweeted out already on his condition.
Definitely not good news. Obviously, it could have been worse. But, a month without Nathan MacKinnon, on top of all the other injuries on the Avalanche, is going to hurt. Right now, this team just has to figure a way to survive and scratch out some points.
It won’t get any easier with tonight’s opponent, the Boston Bruins. The Avalanche do play 10 of the next 13 games at home at least. They’re going to have to win with defense and goaltending and scratch out just enough offense to win some games.
The Avalanche will do well just to stay in the top eight of the Western Conference for now. They might get guys like Valeri Nichushkin and Darren Helm back soon, probably next week at the earliest though. We’ll see. Time to circle the wagons a bit here, folks.
