Colorado Avalanche
Report: Avalanche (Still) Interested in Bo Horvat
In a report that should come as no surprise to any Avalanche fan: The team is still interested in Bo Horvat.
That was the news out of Vancouver on Saturday morning, when Patrick Johnston of The Province wrote that the Avalanche are one of the teams interested in trading for the 27 year old center. The New Jersey Devils were the other team specifically listed.
None of this is new news, at this point. The Avalanche have been linked to Horvat all season long, as well as seemingly any center on the trade market.
Horvat is right in the middle of his best NHL campaign to date. With 43 points in 38 games, he’s on pace to shatter his career highs in goals and points. He’s an unrestricted free agent after the season, so not bad timing on his part to get hot.
Would the Avalanche be willing to give up what the Canucks are asking for Horvat? That’s another other big question. The trade return would be steep, and you have to wonder if it would be worth it in the end. Horvat is currently shooting 10% higher than his career average, so luck has been on his side this year.
We’ll dig deeper into the trade deadline here at CHN soon, but if the Avalanche keep falling in the standings, what they’re looking to do might change.
The NHL trade deadline is on Mar. 3.
Stay tuned too CHN for any updates on Horvat and any other players linked to the Avalanche.
