Avalanche vs. Red Wings, Game 42: Lines, Notes & How to Watch

Avalanche Red Wings

Saturday night for the Colorado Avalanche felt a little bit like the dam breaking for the offense.

But none of that will matter if they can’t carry that momentum over to Monday afternoon.

The Avalanche completely dominated the Ottawa Senators on their way to a 7-0 route. Mikko Rantanen, Alex Newhook, and Artturi Lehkonen each scored twice, with Brad Hunt adding the other goal. Pavel Francouz started in net and stopped all 29 shots he faced.

The team could potentially get a big boost to the lineup in the form of Valeri Nichushkin. The large Russian winger practiced with the team on Sunday afternoon. If he tells the coaching staff he feels healthy, he would bolster the forward core in a big way. Nichushkin showed up to the rink early, so it’s a good indication he will play.

The Avalanche also recalled Anton Blidh Monday morning.

The Detroit Red Wings currently sit six points back of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They’re coming off a 4-3 loss to the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets.

This is the first of two meetings between the teams this season.
