It Never Ends: Cale Makar Out Against Calgary, Listed as Day to Day

The injury bug with the Colorado Avalanche has finally caught up to Cale Makar.

I’m not on the road trip at the moment, but news broke out of Calgary this morning that Makar did not take morning skate. That’s fine. A lot of guys take maintenance days for morning skate.

Unfortunately, this was not a maintenance day. Jared Bednar announced after skate that Makar will miss Wednesday night’s game against Calgary and is listed as day to day. Credit to Kyle, who is in Calgary today.

Makar has been playing heavy minutes all year long, leading the league in average time on ice per game. He’s been able to rest a little bit the last two games because the team has gotten out to big leads.

Makar was absent from practice on Friday last week, but it was listed as a maintenance day. Per Kyle, he is on the trip, so there’s always a chance he plays later for the team. He injured himself last game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Wednesday night’s game is a big one for the Avalanche, as they play the Calgary Flames, one of the teams they are chasing. It just got a little tougher.

The game starts at 7:30 PM MST.
