Sidney Crosby recruited Nathan MacKinnon to participate in the NHL Splash Shot Challenge. Now it appears MacKinnon will have to go up against his Colorado Avalanche teammates.
A little friendly competition between teammates never hurt.
On Thursday, the NHL announced the player assignments for the 2023 NHL All-Stars Skills competition For Avalanche fans, the event to watch will be the NHL Enterprise Splash Shot competition. It looks as though Cale Makar and Mikko Rantanen will team up to take on MacKinnon and Crosby.
What the heck is this event? Well, the NHL release description says “The ocean spray, breeze and sand add to the challenge of this exceptional Skills event, as four pairs of players fire at targets to attempt to dunk their opponents.”. The other two pairs involved are the Tkachuk brothers, Matthew and Brady, and a Igor Shesterkin and Adam Fox from the Rangers.
In addition to the Splash Shot challenge, Makar will be taking part in the Fastest Skater challenge. He participated in the same even last season, but did not come out on top. His competition this year will be Dylan Larkin, Kirill Kaprizov, Chandler Stephenson, and Andrei Svechnikov.
