The Colorado Avalanche didn’t have the cap space to sign Nazem Kadri last summer, but he’s clearly still loved in Denver.
In his first return to Ball Arena since leaving as a free agent, Kadri felt that love from the fans.
During the first commercial timeout, the Avalanche played a long tribute to Kadri on the Jumbotron. The tribute spanned his entire time in Denver, but the fans only got louder as the focus shifted to last season, and more specifically, the Stanley Cup playoffs.
At the end of the tribute, Kadri was visibly emotional, and saluted the Ball Arena fans.
He may not be a member of the Avalanche anymore, but he’ll always have a place in the hearts of fans.
Below is a video of the entire tribute, as well as Kadri’s emotional reaction.
