Jordan Binnington throws (another) fit after giving up several goals, the Colorado Avalanche go into Toronto and come away with a massive win.

All that and more in this Thursday edition of Evan’s Daily.

Colorado Hockey Now

On Wednesday night, the Avalanche went into Toronto and completely shut down the Maple Leafs. It was their best defensive game of the season, and it was capped off by a huge shootout performance by Alexandar Georgiev. Read the recap here with highlights.

It really does appear as though Lars Eller is starting to get more comfortable in the system, because he looks to be trusting his instincts. He was heavy on the puck all night long against Toronto. Check out the highs and lows of the game in Plus/Minus.

The Avalanche lost Artturi Lehkonen to injury, likely for the rest of the regular season, but he’ll probably be back for the playoffs. Check out the film room that focuses on everything that Lehkonen does well for the Avalanche.

Around the NHL

Big surprise: Jordan Binnington threw another fit. After giving up another five goals, Binnington lost it against the Wild. Marc-Andre Fleury tried to come in and take care of business, but the refs didn’t let it happen. It’s a shame. Someone was finally ready to end the BS and the refs stop it before it can even start.

Oh yes, and Binnington has a .892 save percentage in 52 games. So on top of being very angry, he’s also not very good. And he’s signed for four more years at a $6 million cap hit.

SJHN: Nico Sturm talked about his emotional Stanley Cup ring ceremony in Denver, and how he wants to bring the Sharks to the promised land. Not sure that’s going to be happening in the next few years, though.
