There were some intense games around the NHL on Wednesday night, but the game in New York had a little bit of everything. Goals, fights, big hits. Everything you love in a hockey game.

The Colorado Avalanche had an off-day, but we looked back at their playoff-clinching victory over San Jose. Ben Meyers is back with the team, and he earned it with a good stint in the AHL.

All that and more in this Thursday edition of Evan’s Daily.

Colorado Eagles

Not the best night for the Eagles, as they went into Bakersfield and were shut out. They’re still locked into a playoff spot, so it’s just a matter of seeding at this point.

Around the NHL

The only chance the Lightning and Rangers have of playing in the playoffs is in the conference finals (like last year), but if Wednesday night is any indication, it would be another great matchup. The two teams combined for nine goals and 70 penalty minutes in a Rangers win, as they try to get home-ice advantage in the first round.

National Hockey Now

The only chance they had of catching the Jets was by beating them in regulation on Wednesday night, and that’s exactly what they did. They were led by the one and only Nikita Zadorov, who scored one goal and had another disallowed.
