Evan’s NHL Daily: Patrick Kane Undergoes Hip Surgery, Stanley Cup Final Media Day

Patrick Kane nhl trade tracker

Although he’s getting older, Patrick Kane was likely to be one of the more talented free agents on the market in the NHL. He still might be, but it seems unlikely he’ll be ready to play when next season starts. In addition, it was media day for the Stanley Cup final, as it seems like it’s been a decade since an NHL game was played.

With the Avalanche, we took a look at them relinquishing the rights to two prospects earlier this week.

All that and more in this Saturday edition of Evan’s Daily.

They were not big names, and it’s not a surprise by any means, but the Avalanche relinquished the rights to two prospects on Thursday.

On Saturday, look for a profile of draft prospect Lukas Dragicevic.

Around the NHL

Patrick Kane didn’t exactly have the impact the New York Rangers were hoping for after they acquired him at the trade deadline. Many figured he was dealing with a hip injury, and he was, as it was announced he needed surgery to fix the issue. It may leave him sidelined to start next season, so it will be interesting to see what the market is for him this summer.

Stanley Cup Final

Teams have been making moves off the ice this week, but expect that to slow down as the Stanley Cup Final is (finally) ready to get started.

Media day was on Friday, and the Panthers spilled the beans on the post-game dog bone they hand out. Turns out, it’s not a dog bone at all.

When did the Golden Knights know they could really win it all?

National Hockey Now

Pittsburgh: Kyle Dubas haș come in and started to clean house, firing three members of the front office.

Boston: I have no idea how they would do it, but Boston is “exploring” ways to keep Tyler Bertuzzi.

Calgary: Now Toronto’s GM, Brad Treliving believes the Flames can still win the Tkachuk trade. Sure…

Nashville: Predators mailbag, including fans wondering if they’ll lose their AHL coach after Trotz passed on naming him coach at the NHL level.

New Jersey: Will the Devils trade Jesper Bratt?
